They need a Principal Mechanical Engineer who has designed industrial automation systems and tooling and a working knowledge of mechanical principles and an understanding of 3D models, layout drawings, and engineering specifications.

The Principal Mechanical Engineer works independently, manages various projects from start to finish.

The Principal Mechanical Engineer has a continuous improvement mindset and passion for improving engineering standards and process flow.

The Principal Mechanical Engineer challenges team members to integrate sound engineering practices into the design of advanced industrial solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Operational and technical depth to lead the implementation of engineering design standards
  • Conceptualize and review designs and assemblies for complex automated stations and systems
  • Lead internal/external design reviews, customer buy-offs, and root cause analysis in the field
  • Manage programs to ensure key milestone gates are achieved and customers receive turn-key solutions delivered right the first time
  • Oversee customer scope of work to ensure all contractual terms and conditions are met
  • Communicate effectively with employees, colleagues and customers
  • Monitor team activities and progress against budgets and schedules
  • Schedule activities to complete assigned tasks and projects, communicate and document
  • Ensure Engineering Change Orders are managed and documented to the customer
  • Analyze as-built tool design information and prepare design update plans
  • Demonstrate Engineering professionalism and provide efficient service to customers
  • Understand customer needs, apply technical knowledge to identify process requirements, recommend and implement custom engineered solutions

Requirements:

  • BS Mechanical Engineer, manufacturing or a related field
  • 15 + years related experience on multiple projects. Machine design experience preferred.
  • 5 years of mechanical 3D solid modeling experience and proficiency in Solidworks
  • Read, analyze and interpret general business technical procedures.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from management and customers
  • Solve problems and manage a variety of diverse engineering challenges
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and improve existing processes
  • Read and understand mechanical and electrical controls drawings
  • Basic understanding of machining tools and common machining practices
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Proven organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office Programs).
